Opening up the floor plan of this 1930's downtown Davis home required a complete remodel. The roof and most interior walls were redone to vault the ceilings and create a spacious living area underneath.
Design, material selection, and craftsmanship all serve to create the serene, productive kitchen which was desired by the customer. The cabinets, inlaid with Ginkgo leaf and tree motifs, showcase the skill of Davis Cabinet Company's Cathy Forkas.
Douglass fir awnings are supported by a custom steel support.

Deep Window Sills sharply frame the Integrity Windows and keep them clear of overspray. Coving the Marmoleum floor covering adds a seamless border.
The design keeps the refrigerator out of most sight-lines in the house.

Downstairs Remodel: The exterior walls of this house jogged in and out making for a very confined kitchen with little view to the backyard, while the house and garage were connected by an open breezeway.
The remodeled area was partitioned off from the rest of the house and a temporary kitchen set up for the majority of the project. This photo shows the new Kitchen looking out to the backyard.
